It’s a tough world. Our children and grandchildren are facing challenges that only a few years ago would have been unimaginable.  In our day, using the wrong pronoun was a correction on an English paper not grounds for losing your job.  And our society’s difficulty in even acknowledging the concept that some things are true, and others are not, makes it difficult for our sons and daughters to find a place to stand.

In such a world, Berean Christian High School is on the front line of the battle not just for the hearts, minds and souls of our children but in some ways for the whole world.  Having a cadre of future adults who know they are loved by God, saved by Christ and called to joyfully share all the truths that flow out of those capital “T” Truths, is indeed the world’s best hope.

For the Next 50 Years

From the Romans facing Hannibal to our 101st Airborne facing the Germans at Bastogne, wars are won by logistics.  Whoever does the best job feeding, clothing and arming their troops wins.  In this light, the financial support Berean needs to successfully engage in the battle for hearts, minds and souls isn’t just “nice” it’s essential.

For most of its 55-year history, Berean has been primarily supported by tuition.  That remains the case today.  While we have done a great job utilizing those dollars effectively, most of our parents are already doing all that they can. Consequently, there are things that cannot be funded by parents alone unless we want to become an exclusive school for the very wealthy.  (Which we don’t!)

To address our future needs and to assure that today’s students receive the best Christian education, our Board has adopted a Vision Statement, which you can read in its entirety here.  In it we identify five areas where our friends can help.  Those areas are:

- Facilities and Finance. Team charged with exploring the cost of various options and determining the total funding the campaign requires over the next 3 to 5 years.

- Prayer. Team charged with regularly praying for Berean and for its students, staff, alumni, board members and other friends.

- STEM, Industrial Arts and Performing Arts. Teams charged with evaluating expanded course offerings in these areas and identifying potential locations and facilities.

- Alumni and Community Relations. Team charged with engaging alumni and the broader community primarily as an outreach to those groups so that they benefit from Berean’s future growth.

- Fundraising. Team charged with collecting data from other teams, establishing a campaign goal, recruiting technical giving support and ultimately sharing the giving opportunities with our community of friends.

Become a Friend of the Eagles

If you would like to help in any of these areas, you can become a Friend of the Eagles by clicking here.  When you become a Friend of the Eagles, we will let you know about current opportunities, solicit your input on our future plans and invite you to occasional, special events.

You can find additional information on the Vision page  of our website including information on Endowment and Legacy Giving and our immediate fundraising needs for:

- Scholarships;

-  An improved campus for Fine Arts, Technology Labs and Athletics; and,

- Expanded programs in STEM and other advanced studies.

Joy and Thanksgiving

There is a relationship between Joy and Thanksgiving and the stress of living in the modern world.   It’s a relationship that is uniquely Christian.  In one of Paul’s very first letters to a group of young, struggling Christians in the city of Thessalonica he tells them, “Be joyful always.  Pray continually.  And give thanks in all circumstances as this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (I Thessalonians 5:16-18) Their challenges, which Paul called “suffering”, were an opportunity for joy . . . as are ours!

As we work hard to provide a great education for our kids . . . in a tough world . . . don’t miss the joy!  In that regard, please feel free to contact either Simone Smith or me  in our development department at 925-945-6464 x255 or by email at ssmith@bereanchristian.com or rfry@bereanchristian.com.  We will always have occasions for your joyful participation in the work we are all doing for our students!

Thank you for all that you are already doing.

Cordially in Christ.
