Why Berean?

Our mission is to provide a quality, Bible-centered education to develop lifetime followers of Christ. With 19 AP/Honors courses, 267 AP exams, and a student to faculty ratio of 12:1, we are encouraging our students to become Christ-honoring, service-related, and excellence driven individuals. But why hear it just from us?

Sending our three sons to Berean was one of the wisest decisions we ever made. Our sons studied under caring teachers who prepared them well for college. By the grace of God, our youngest is now attending Yale University. Berean also helped them develop their faith and spiritual gifts and gave them opportunities to serve the Lord with their talents. We thank God for Berean and its dedicated teachers and staff! May God continue to bless Berean and make you all His instruments of blessing in preparing students to be lifelong followers of Christ.

Berean Christian High School has been a blessing for our family on so many levels.  We moved to the East Bay due to an employment opportunity. At the top of our minds was ensuring that our daughters would have a strong academic experience in a Christian community.  High school is such a key period of time in the development of our children, and we knew that we wanted to partner with an institution that valued what we do: strong academics, Christian faith development, and comprehensive preparation for college.  We joined BCHS when our daughters were entering 9th and 12th grade. They were apprehensive about the move but found BCHS to be a great environment.  Both daughters quickly realized the teachers truly cared about them academically, emotionally, and spiritually.  We would highly recommend BCHS and are grateful that we have had the opportunity to partner during this season.

Two years before my daughter went to high school, I began to look at schools where her love for Christ would be nourished.  One of the 9 school we looked at was Berean Christian High School. My husband and I realized that the High school she attended would have a huge impact in her life & choices as she would spend more than 6 ½ hours per day, 5 days a week for 9 months with teachers and peers that would help shape her. We wanted her in a school where the administration and staff would leave an imprint of Christ upon her life not just in word but in their witness, so we knew we had to do our homework. During our initial visit to Berean, we were impressed with the school’s focus on preparing students to be disciples for Jesus Christ.  We were excited to see other students excited to be in this school environment. It was refreshing to hear teachers and leaders desire to go the extra mile to make sure every student was ministered to and given every opportunity to grow. It was amazing to see how staff would care beyond academic needs to also make sure the student’s family environment was safe and well.  After investigating over nine high schools in the East Bay Area, some of which were public, we found ourselves making a second trip to Berean Christian to make sure what we saw and felt was real, and it was! After a third visit when it was time for my daughter to go to high school, I had no doubt Berean was the right place for our daughter. For us as parents, we have no greater joy than to know that our daughter is surrounded by leaders who love the Lord and are an example of his love in the way they teach, speak, and live.

As our daughter prepares to graduate this year, we can see the imprint of Christ made on her life and how she has been shaped by her high school experience.  We have no doubt that attending Berean was the difference! We can only thank our Lord and Savior for the school, the administration, teachers, and staff for their commitment and dedication to Christian education.
