Ms. Ann Nelson

Thank you for visiting my page. Over the years, I have taught several classes at Berean Christian High School, and I have enjoyed every one of them. Now I teach 11th grade American Literature and our 12th-grade girls Bible class, which we call Walking Worthy. Both classes are a joy to teach.

As we work through American Literature, students assess their dual position as citizens of the Kingdom of God and residents of the United States of America. Through a historical approach, students read the writings of Americans: from early Native Americans, through the Puritans, Revolutionaries, Romantics, Realists, Modernists up to our current Postmodernists. Students analyze past American writers through a Christian perspective, considering the role Christ holds in the literature of past ages. Through these readings and analyses, students develop their critical reading, thinking, writing, and speaking abilities.

In Walking Worthy, we spend the fall semester learning how to connect with God individually, how to increase our love for and dependence on Him. We focus our studies on the book of Luke, with an eye for how Jesus interacted with people and His call on their lives. Additionally, we learn who God made us to be individually and we consider different practices of prayer and Scripture meditation. In the Spring semester, we study the lives of women as recorded in the Bible, as well as of women who have served God in the Church Age. We consider how we can serve within the Body of Christ (the Church) and how we can serve as the body of Christ in the world.

The best way to reach me is via email. If you would like me to call you, please send me an email with your phone number and a window of time when you will be available for me to call you.
