Mrs. Shaun Friday

My name is Shaun Friday, but I typically go by Shaunie (both are fine), and I wear a number of hats here in my first year at Berean Christian. I teach English I (Freshman English).

By way of introduction, I am the daughter of two Christian Christian teachers, and, following their lifelong example, I have a deep and tender place in my heart for investing in the lives of high school students. I have been married to my husband, Tony, for 30 blessed years, and we have two grown children, one of whom graduated from Berean Christian in 2009.

While fulfilling my dream of being a stay-at-home mother and homemaker, I also sharpened my writing skills writing for a small magazine and for my blog, Up the Sunbeam. When my kids were out of high school, I turned my attention to fulfilling the other cherished dream that had lived in my heart since high school—the dream to become an English teacher. I returned to school and earned both my B.A. (2016) and M.A. in English (2018), and I was honored to have an article published in The Lincoln Humanities Journal. My time as a student was a joy, and I am thrilled that God has now blessed me to be stepping into my life as a teacher. God has been so gracious to invite me to serve Him and the students here at Berean, and I could not be more grateful!

I love words! I love literature! I love to learn, and I am excited about teaching! My prayer, and my purpose as a teacher, is to inspire my English students to a lifelong love of learning, thinking, reading, and writing. Everything we study in English I will be through the lens of a Christian world view.

If you have any questions about my classes, please feel free to email me, as email is the best way to contact me! If you would like me to call you, please email your phone number and a window of time in which you are available.

In His Grip,
Mrs. Shaunie Friday
