Class of 2020 Awards

Class of 2020 Seniors

Eighty-six students graduated from Berean Christian High School just a few short months ago. With the onset of an historic pandemic, the pride we feel in these students' accomplishments and in the way they conduct themselves as disciples of Christ was more difficult to express compared to other years. Nevertheless, we are honored that these students have gone out into the world to represent their faith and the values that BCHS has taught them.

With that in mind, we recognize the distinction that some of these students earned through excellence in academic achievement and outstanding character.

Joey UtomoPrincipal's Award

The highest award bestowed on a student at Berean Christian High School is the Principal's Award. This award is presented to a graduating senior who has strengthened the spiritual atmosphere of Berean through (1) a sincere devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ, (2) outstanding leadership, (3) consistent character, (4) a desire to excel in every undertaking for God's glory, and (5) dedication to the welfare of fellow students. The 2020 Principal’s Award was presented to Joey Utomo.

National Merit Scholar Awards

Hayden AlwanTwo Berean students were honored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. A Letter of Commendation signifies designation as a Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended students have achieved a high Selection Index score which places them among the top 50,000 of over 1.5 million students who entered the 2020 National Merit Program by taking the 2018 PSAT.  We are happy to recognize Hayden Alwan as a Commended Student.

Of the top 50,000 students with high Selection Index scores, a nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of US high school seniors, is selected from among the highest-scoring entrants in each state.  After submission of a detailed scholarship application, Semifinalists are able to advance to Finalist level.  We are pleased to recognize Joey Utomo as a National Merit Finalist.
